About the Event

Walking in Your Community in association with parkrun UK are thrilled to announce the launch of ‘Walk @ parkrun’. The event is set to run alongside one of Northern Ireland’s founding parkrun events in Waterworks Park, Belfast beginning on Saturday 24thSeptember 2016 at 9:30am.

As part of parkrun UK’s ongoing encouragement to get everyone active, it is hoped that this FREE, FRIENDLY, WEEKLY 5k walk will create a vibrant atmosphere for the whole community to get involved. Non-competitive and lots of fun, this free walk is open to all, from families with buggies to those simply looking to get out for a walk and meet other local people.

You don’t need to be an Olympic athlete to benefit from regular physical activity, Regular walking and other physical activity woven into your daily routine can bring huge benefits to your physical and mental wellbeing. Walking in green spaces in particular has been shown to reduce instances of depression and high blood pressure alone.

This free event has been developed to support local community groups, youth clubs, health centres and local organisations to get out and enjoy their local green space’s and meet local people and have fun.

This event is open to everyone!

What to Bring

Please wear good comfortable footwear eg. trainers and appropriate clothing for walking outdoors.

It is ‘a walk in the park’ to register simply sign up online for your unique timing code, selecting #ParkWalk as your ‘club’ when registering.
