Footsteps in the Forest

Slieve Gullion Forest Park

About the Event

An unmissable weekend festival of story-telling, arts, culture, food and heritage. If you like a good story then this Giant Adventure is for you.

Footsteps in the Forest Giant Adventure, Winner of the 2016 Heritage Council Cool for Kids category. This annual event is hosted by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council and supported by Tourism Northern Ireland.

You’ll have a chance to get up close and personal and maybe even get a picture with some of these larger than life characters from the world of myths and legends.

The food market offers excellent local provenance produce in a traditional style market-place, so come join us and ensure you enjoy a tasty treat or two.

And throughout the day when you’re not meeting all the mythical characters, eating at the market, listening to local musicians, The Traditional Arts Partnership, at the main stage or talking to some weird and wonderful characters walking around the Forest you can enjoy all these activities and more at Slieve Gullion Forest Park: Face painting, jumping clay, watching Mr Mess ake a mess! and make and do with Artists from the local arts group: ROGHA.

Throughout the day there will also be wood turning demonstrations creating spinning tops and fairy wants for the kids, metal forging demos, pottery workshops and more.
