South Antrim Community Network Encourages Locals To Get Out Walking!

Walking In Your Community in conjunction with the South Antrim Community Network worked together to provide local organisations with the opportunity to make a difference in their community by running a Community Walk Leader course at Randalstown Forest, Tuesday 10th June 2014.

This course was a great success as it trained local community leaders and volunteers with the vital skills needed to facilitate short, safe and accessible walks for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

Alan Nicholl from the Hillstown Rural Community Group commented “This was an excellent and enjoyable course”, while Wendy Patterson from the Carrickfergus Women’s Forum also added “I will be able to lead and support the Women’s Forum by leading weekly walks. Good day! Great craic!”

Nicola Cully, Marketing Officer at Walking In Your Community remarked “Walking In Your Community was delighted to work with the South Antrim Community Network to facilitate this course. It was great to see more leaders trained up to become Community Walk Leaders in this area and hopefully they will use what they have learnt today and set up their own walking group encouraging members within their organisation and local area to get outdoors, get walking and enjoy their beautiful surroundings.”
