Ballymena Communities Inspired to get Walking

A group of keen community leaders and volunteers made the short trip to Glenariff Forest Park to attend a Community Walk Leader training day, Saturday 5th July 2014 to enable them to carry out short, safe and accessible walks in their local area.

This stunning Co. Antrim location offered the perfect backdrop for attendees to gain the vital skills to lead walks confidently with people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Topics covered during this one day training event included navigation and route planning skills as well helpful tips and tricks to successfully start up and manage a walking group.

One new Community Walk Leader described the day as "a great course, with a good mix of practical and advice".

Training and Development Officer Richard Gawith, who arranged the training, said "I am delighted to see so many different organisations wishing to set up walking groups, and glad we have been able to provide this opportunity in North Antrim."
