CWLs triumph at Tara Centre

Community Walk Leaders from across Northern Ireland travelled to the Tara Centre, Omagh to complete their First Aid training facilitated by the Red Cross.

For all Community Walk Leaders, it is vital that they obtain a valid First Aid Qualification as this enables them to lead short, safe and accessible walks within their Community under the programme.

This superb First Aid course covered a range of topics including emergency life support as well as acting out a range of scenarios that a Walk Leaders may face when out and about walking.

Marketing Officer Nicola Cully from Walking In Your Community commented "It is of the upmost importance that Community Walk Leaders receive this training in order to operate under the Walking In Your Community programme. It not only equips leaders with the necessary skills to carry out safe walks but leaders can also use what they have learnt during this training day in every day situations helping them prepare  for any emergency situation that may arise. This is a fantastic course run by the Red Cross and all our Community Walk Leaders have come away feeling more confident."

Walking In Your Community is running another First Aid course, Thursday 6th November 2014 from 6pm to 10pm at the Women’s Resource and Development Agency in Belfast.
