Exploring the Giant's Lair at Slieve Gullion

Slieve Gullion hosted a Community Walk Leader training day on Saturday 25th April for Community Leaders and Volunteers.

This successful training day enables participants to learn the necessary skills needed to lead short, safe and accessible walks with people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Topics covered during this training day included navigation and map reading skills as well as some useful information to set up and run an active walking group.

Mary McAnulty a Volunteer from Mediation Northern Ireland commented "I enjoyed this training and found it to be most practical and inspiring." while Paula Mulkerns a Ring of Gullion Abassador remarked that this was a "well delivered course, well paced for beginners with little or no prior knowledge/ experience of leading a walk"

The group explored the brand new Giant's Lair at Slieve Gullion an ambitious children's art project. This innovative and magical living storybook takes visitors on an unforgettable trail of intertwined fairy house and art features creating a fantastically childhood land of mystery, dragons, giants, witches and fairies, all inspired by the rich tapestry of local legend and mythical folklore on over a mile of woodlands at Slieve Gullion Forest Park.
