Community Walk Leaders Complete First Aid Training

On Thursday 11th June Community Walk Leaders from across Northern Ireland travelled to Belfast to the Shaftesbury Community and Recreation Centre to complete a Rescue and Emergency Care Certificate adapted to include lots of walking examples.

For all Community Walk Leaders, it is vital that they obtain a valid First Aid Qualification as this enables them to lead short, safe and accessible walks within their Community under the programme.

This superb First Aid course covered a range of topics including emergency life support as well as acting out a range of scenarios that a Walk Leaders may face when out and about walking.

Claire Overend from Walking In Your Community commented "It is of the upmost importance that Community Walk Leaders receive this training in order to operate under the Walking In Your Community programme. It not only equips leaders with the necessary skills to carry out safe walks but leaders can also use what they have learnt during this training day in every day situations helping them prepare  for any emergency situation that may arise. This is a fantastic course run by the Rescue and Emergency Care and all our Community Walk Leaders have come away feeling more confident."
