Fun Filled Spring Support Event


Walking In Your Community held a Support Course for qualified Community Walk Leaders, Tuesday 11th March 2014 at Barnett Demesne, Belfast. With fabulous weather conditions and plenty of springtime sunshine this was the perfect opportunity for CWLs to get out and practice their walking skills!

This course itself offered Community Walk Leaders with the opportunity to learn about recent updates to the programme as well as receiving specialist one on one support to help manage their community walking group. Furthermore, an interactive outdoor session was held in the beautiful surroundings of Demesne. This session was jam packed with fun activities and games which were set to inspire Community Walk Leaders to get out walking and to ultimately make their community walks a little bit different and more engaging for walkers.

Community Walk Leader Norman Weekes thorourly participating in the support event and when asked about the day itself he commented “Thanks again to you for organising an enjoyable and educational day. I really enjoyed it. Watch out for Big Red Arrow!!”

Training and Development Officer at Walking In Your Community Richard Gawith added “It is great to be able to support CWLs with the valuable walking programmes they are running. As well as receiving important information about the scheme and meeting other CWLs, great fun was had by all in the afternoon with a session on creating inspiring walks by Stephen Brown of Coasteering NI.
