Castle Archdale, Co. Fermanagh hosts Community Walk Leader Training Day on Wednesday 29th June for Community Leaders and Volunteers.

Walking In Your Community had an action packed day training up the latest batch of Community Walk Leaders in Castle Archdale.

This successful training day (despite the rain!) enabled participants to learn the necessary skills needed to lead short, safe and accessible walks with people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Topics covered during this training day included navigation and map reading skills as well as some useful information to set up and run an active walking group.

A highlight of the day for all those attending was practivally applying their new skills during a group walk around the lake and forest with the course tutor.

Walking In Your Community Co Ordinator Claire Overend commented following the event "It's great to see our new Community Walk Leaders leave feeling confident and keen to start walking groups in their local community."

Participants found the map reading and practical aspects of the course most useful ahead of starting their own walking groups.
