A new walking trail has been launched at Divis complete with views over Belfast City, Mourne Mountains, Scotland and Isle of Man.

The Divis Ridge Trail is a circular 4.2 mile walk complete with flat paths on tarmac, a boardwalk and stone pitched gravel feature. Divis has a vast history but this expansive 2,000 acre mosaic of upland heath and blanket bog is also home to a wealth of archaeological remains and wildlife. National Trust Warden, Dermot McCann commented “The highlight of the walk, for me, is the fact that you are walking in the open countryside and, as you crown Black Mountain, only then can you see Belfast as it opens up below you.”

As a Community Walk Leader this trail offers some fantastic views and talking points ideal for you and your community walking group. Depending on your group’s capability levels, the Lough Trail may be more suitable for community groups with limited mobility. This short 0.9 mile route will allow you explore Divis at your leisure along the all-ability trail which is also suitable for wheelchair users. Furthermore, Divis has 2 accessible toilets located within the visitor facility as well as a changing places facility located adjacent to the visitor building accessed via a Radar Key.
