Community Walk Leaders trained at Tollymore!

Tollymore National Outdoor Centre played host to another fantastic Community Walk Leader training course, Saturday 12th April 2014 where excited community leaders and volunteers learnt about the vital skills needed to lead short safe and accessible walks in their area.

This superb one day training course introduced these willing leaders and volunteers into the world of walking and equipped them with the confidence to start up and run their own walking group within their local community. In total, 8 Community Walk Leaders were trained under the programme after making the short trip to Tollymore, Co. Down.

Richard Gawith, Training and Development Officer at Walking In Your Community commented “It was great to see 8 more enthusiastic Community Walk Leaders get qualified under the scheme. This was a diverse course with people from all over Co. Down, who now have the skills and confidence they need to get their community groups out walking the stunning Down countryside.”

Newly qualified Community Walk Leader Danny McSherry added that the Community Walk Leader Scheme was an “excellent course and one of the best” while participant Andrea McAlinden also stated “The course was very relevant to the needs of a walk leader. I really benefitted from this training and will definitely be putting it to use. “
