Creating Inspiring Walks

Walking In Your Community hosted a successful Creating Inspiring Walks training course, Thursday 22nd August 2013 at Crawfordsburn Country Park.

Creating Inspiring Walks is one of the many additional Support courses offered to Community Walk Leaders under the new Walking In Your Community programme. The workshop was specifically designed to be an interactive yet informative day that would support Community Walk Leaders and provide them with the knowledge and skills to create and develop innovative and inspiring walks.

The day kicked off on a high and soon Community Walk Leaders were introduced to a range of activities including teambuilding exercises, orienteering coaching, treasure hunt ideas and an extended knowledge of geocaching. The training programme equipped leaders with the knowledge, skills and confidence to lead successful walks that would engage and motivate their walking groups.

The event was a great success and in total 12 participants attended the exclusive training event. Claire Overend, Development Officer, Walking In Your Community commented ‘This was a brilliant training day that has equipped Community Walk Leaders with some great ideas to carry out exciting and engaging walks within their community.”

Diana Porter, a certified Community Walk Leader commented "I thoroughly enjoyed my day. I came away with a great new set of tools which I can adapt for any group so adding that extra oomph to my walks. Can't wait for the next course"
