Walking In Your Community Support Event

The first ever Walking In Your Community Support event took place Sunday 22nd September 2013 through the spectacular grounds of the Stormont Estate as part of the Get Outdoors Weekend, that showcased free outdoor events in Northern Ireland.

The event proved to be a great success as Community Walk Leaders for the first time were able to chat among one another speaking about their experiences on the programme. The day itself was very informal and relaxed and gave Community Walk Leaders the opportunity to embark on a Nature Trail and Historical walk through the stunning grounds at Stormont. A picnic lunch was provided for all CWLs which allowed attendees the opportunity to discuss ideas and make acquaintances with one another.

Nicola Cully, Marketing Officer commented “We were delighted with the first ever Support event. It was great seeing the Community Walk Leaders engage with one another and talk about the programme. Throughout the year we plan to host more networking events as it is a great way to share ideas and set up joint walks.

Community Walk Leader, Diana Porter thoroughly enjoyed the Support Event and stated “The walk was very informative and pleasant, and a great introduction to an estate and walk that I’m sure not many people would know about.”
