Success in the Sperrins

Walking In Your Community held a Community Walk Leader training course Saturday 12th October 2013 at An Creagán Centre, Omagh, the first event of its kind to be held within the Co. Tyrone area. The fantastic backdrop of the Sperrins combined with the historical sites, small lakes and gravel ridges made this the perfect location to run this training course. The event proved to be a great success as it was fully booked with an impressive 15 participants attending on the day. All attendees are now registered Community Walk Leaders who are trained to carry out short, safe and accessible walks within their local community.

Jackie Quinn, newly qualified Community Walk Leader from Cavanaleck Association commented “I really enjoyed the Community Walk Leader training course and it offered more than I had ever expected.  I had a fab day and enjoyed getting to know the group and other CWL’s. Thanks for a brilliant day.”

When speaking about the event, Nicola Cully, Marketing Officer stated “This was another successful Walking In Your Community event held in the beautiful surroundings of An Creagán. We are thrilled to see that it was so popular among the residents and know that these communities in Co. Tyrone will benefit greatly from the programme. We hope to run another course in this area so that more people can benefit from the fantastic training that we have on offer!”
