CWL’s Navigate their way to success

Barnett Demesne, home to Walking in Your Community, played host to another highly demanded Community Walk Leader training day, Tuesday 12th November 2013.

This superb event was held in the idyllic grounds of Barnett Demesne, Belfast . Spaces for the training filled up fast with an abundance of community group members showing an interest in becoming a Community Walk Leader which would allow them to carry out short , safe and accessible walking with their local community.

Newly qualified Community Walk Leader Norman Weekes commented on the training day by saying “This course was very enjoyable, well organised and friendly!”

In addition, Chloé Scott from Action Cancer commented that the course provided necessary “confidence building” which she could use to integrate walking activities into health promotion programmes within Action Cancer.

Nicola Cully, Marketing Officer for Walking In Your Community stated “I am delighted with how well the Community Walk Leader event was perceived. This is the third course of this kind that has been run in Belfast over the past few weeks which is fantastic news for the programme. The group of individuals who attended showed a real enthusiasm to succeed and start up their own Community Walking group which is brilliant news!”
