Buddy system set to motivate Community Walk Leaders!

The Buddy system is a new initiative launched under the Walking In Your Community scheme to encourage Community Walk Leaders to actively lead walks in their local communities.

Over the upcoming months, Walking In Your Community will be arranging a short programme of training walks delivered by WIYC tutors. These training walks are specifically designed for existing Community Walk Leaders to attend, FREE of charge!

If you are a Community Walk Leader who has completed the walk leader training but are yet to start a walking group, this will be a fantastic opportunity for you to meet other CWLs, share ideas on getting a group started, practice you leadership skills and refresh your memory on everything ranging from paperwork to navigation.

Once buddies have been finalised, a comprehensive list will be added to the “Join A Group” section of www.WalkingInYourCommunity.com,
so be sure to keep an eye out for any buddy walks near you!

Looking into the future, Walking In Your Community aim to have enough active Community Walk Leaders who would also act as buddies to inspire and offer support to newly-trained CWLs. This will be a rolling Buddy system, where trainees will be given contact details of CWLs in their local area. Once they have built their confidence, they too can then start their own walking group, and eventually become a Buddy!
